About Lighted Boat Parade

The 32nd annual Lighted Boat Parade will set sail in the Santa Cruz Harbor on Saturday, December 2nd. The pageant features dozens of colorfully festooned boats sailing from the Murray Street bridge to the middle of the harbor entrance channel and back.

The theme for this year’s parade is Holiday Magic!, and it really is magic as the sky turns dark, the holiday boats light the night sky, and the harbor fills with merry-making mariners. The free event begins at 5:30 PM come rain or shine on the first Saturday in December.

After the parade, mariners will gather at the Santa Cruz Yacht Club to find out which boats win prizes in six categories: Power Boats (small and large), Sailboats (small and large), as well as people-powered boats and stationary boats in harbor slips or dry storage.

The parade can be viewed from both sides of the south Harbor between the Murray Street bridge and midway up the harbor entrance channel just past the Crow’s Nest Restaurant.
