About Cesar Chavez Day of Service

The Homeless Garden Project hosts an annual day of service at our organic farm in Santa Cruz, CA to honor the legacy and continued relevance of Cesar Chavez and his vision and work around issues of social justice.

On Saturday, March 31, 2018 between 10am and 2pm, community members are invited to join us for a day of volunteering at the farm. At noon, we break for a beautiful lunch. We will be joined by the 2018 recipient of the City of Watsonville Cesar Chavez Award for Community Service, Adriana Rocha for this day of work. Adriana works on the Watsonville Community Action Board and won the award for her work with the Homeless Winter Survival Gift Project.

We are also extremely fortunate to have her father, Antonio Rocha attend the event and speak about his 25 years of experience working as a strawberry farmer in Watsonville. We hope we can honor the two of them by listening to their inspirational words and stories that will be shared throughout the day.
